Immigration or forced labor?

Illegal immigration encourages forced labor.  Those who come over illegally often have a “job” waiting for them which they cannot leave.  If mistreated they have no one to go to.  They have no right to appeal, they cannot decide where they live, or what they do.   Often they don’t speak English so they are unable to communicate properly.  They are underpaid and forced to work long hours.  People are paid to smuggle them over in cramped conditions.  If they die, who is to know?  Companies complain that they need the workers, well, so did the plantations, but did that make it right?  Cheap labor is illegal and immoral.  The lack of investment on the part of the employer leads to lack of caring.

How Jews are misrepresented

It is amazing to me that whenever a portrayal of the bible is done, the non-jews look jewish and the jews look aryan.  The only explanation offered is that it helps us relate to them better or that they look nicer.   The end result of this is the inability to relate to jews as humans because they are almost never portrayed correctly.  There are a few exceptions such as Schindler's List and the Passion.  Well, bravo to them for not changing the ethnic background of the characters.

Disturbing trends in everyday talk

More recently, I have noticed that children are using names like "retard" and even "jew" to insult others.  What they mean is that the person said or done something stupid.  Very little is being done to combat using these terms to dehumanize people.  We need to learn from the mistakes of the past and not categorize others that way.
